Day 1

This is some place. It is huge! We are given a timetable indicating how long it takes to walk from one location to another. Some distances take about 90 minutes just to walk. Logging over five miles a day here is routine. The troop got settled in before noon so they were able to explore the site and take in activities. Some scouts got into the Canopy course and spent over two and a half hours zip lining. It was very hot and humid today and SBR was issuing heat advisories. The scouts on the zip line got very hot and tired on the line. Other scouts hiked over the Console Energy bridge to the Summit Center, which is the area visitors can access. Patch trading was common.

The showers are COLD, but they are clean and refreshing, Dinner at 5:00pm and meetings with the unit commissioner took a few hours. Clearly, some of the procedures are still being worked out. Everyone seems happy, but tired. We need to be up at 6:00 and it had finally cooled off. Most scouts are turned in, so I will also. It is a beautiful night!
