Troop B313 will be taking a hike this Sunday. We will meet at the Charles Lewis Nature Area on Sunday, April 29 at 1:30pm for a hike that should take us about three hours. The following message was sent by the troop SPL last night:Hello everyone,
Its been a bit since we had a meeting, so everyone will be given a chance to test their physical ability for Jamboree (only 3 months away). I cannot stress enough how important this event will be: everyone needs to be there since all scouts must find out if they are physically able to hike at Jamboree (most scouts should be just fine).
We will be going on a 4.9 mile hike this Sunday April 28 at 1:15 pm. Everyone’s attendance is required, this is a personal test. The hike is in the Charles Lewis Natural Area, near Johnstown, PA. Directions from the council office to the trail head can be found here: http://goo.gl/maps/Y8QG4 More information about the trail itself can be found here www.pahikes.com/trails/laurel-highlands-trail/123-exploring-the-charles-lewis-natural-area
Patrol Leaders: Please alert your entire patrol about this event by contacting them by email or by phone. The hike will start at 1:15pm so plan to leave on time. We should be done with the hike by around 3:00pm.
What to bring:
Boots (NOT SNEAKERS) (should cover your ankle)
Water (at least 2 liters in total)
Trail food (NOT sweets/junk food. REAL trail food)
First Aid kit
Any other scoutly gear (pocket knife, etc.)
If you have any questions, please ask your patrol leader, myself, or any of our leaders.
